Update: Palin in Grand Island Friday to Endorse Pete Ricketts for Governor

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was in Grand Island Friday morning showing support for gubernatorial candidate Pete Ricketts.

During the campaign rally held at the state fairgrounds, Palin praised Ricketts' private sector experience saying that sometimes too much government is the problem.

"Pete stands apart from others in this race as a principled conservative whose private sector experience will help grow jobs and strengthen the rural economy," said Palin.

Ricketts says he's excited to have her support.

"She is a fearless, effective leader who fought established special interests and reformed her state government for the benefit of all Alaskans," he said. "I am very excited and proud to have her support."

Palin has also given her endorsement of U.S. Senate candidate Ben Sasse.

Mike Foley, Beau McCoy, Bryan Slone, Tom Carlson, and Jon Bruning are also seeking the Republican gubernatorial spot in the primary.

Bruning's campaign told NTV that "Pete Ricketts will get all the endorsements his money can buy. Jon Bruning is focused on the issues important to Nebraskans, like opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants."
