'Party for Pilger' Fun Way to Help Tornado Victims

Kearney's Harmon Park turned into a dance floor Monday night, as a fun way to help out neighbors hit hard by last week's tornadoes.

It's a 'Party for Pilger', as Zumba instructors from K–town Shakedown invited community members to share the Zumba love, and bring supplies to help out.

"Completely surprised, no. We have big mouths," said K-town Shakedown's Cathy Mohlman when asked about the turnout. "We told a lot of people who told a lot of people who told a lot of people, and we have just found that one person can do a lot, but get a lot of people together they can do a lot more."

"It's a double bonus. You're helping yourself with your health, you're helping the people in Pilger," said participant Haley Fisher. "Even if you don't have the opportunity to get up there, if you haven't had the chance to help before, even if you have, you know just getting that extra 10 cents to help someone in need."

About 40 people showed up to Monday night's event. All donations will be taken to Pilger on Tuesday.
