Phillipsburg, Kan. Celebrating 84th Year of Rodeo


An annual tradition returns toPhillipsburg in August.

Kansas Biggest Rodeo will run August 1-3north of town at the rodeo grounds.

The event, which has taken place since1929, attracts about 15,000 people to town over its three day run and is a bigsocial event. Phillipsburg resident Mike Erhart said, "It's a time to gettogether, and to enjoy each other. It's a big family event, and a big boost forour economy."

New to the rodeo this year are its clownand specialty act. Justin Rumford, Ponca City, Okla., will be rodeo clown andbarrelman. He's the 2012 PRCA Clown of theYear. Kenny Petet's chuckwagonraces will be this year's specialty act.

Tickets go on sale July 1 at HeritageInsurance in Phillipsburg. Reserved ticket prices are $15 for adults and $11 forkids ages three to twelve. General admission ticket prices are $13 for adultsand $10 for kids. Tickets can be purchased by calling 785.543.2448 with a major creditcard or by stopping at the store, 685 Third Street.
