An accident between a pickup and a train occurred Friday afternoon sending one person to the hospital.

The accident happened on track number two around 4 p.m. when a southbound Dodge pickup driven by a rural Shelton woman, now identified as Loree Gard, collided with an eastbound Union Pacific train at the Sod Town Road railroad crossing.

Gard was taken to Good Samaritan hospital with unknown injuries.

Highway 30 was closed for a short time to allow for Good Samaritan's Air Care to land near the scene of the accident. Gibbon rescue was on scene as well as paramedics from Good Samaritan hospital.

The cause at this time has not been identified and the accident continues to be under investigation by the Buffalo County Sheriff's Department as they work on determining all factors involved.

REPORTER'S NOTES: Law enforcement previously reported that the victim was from rural Gibbon. The story has since been updated. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
