Possible $1,000 Reward Offered for Man Wanted in Lexington Shooting

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of a man accused in a shooting in Lexington last week is asked to contact local law enforcement.

Dawson/Gosper Crime Stoppers says a tip leading to the apprehension of 25-year-old Jose Gabriel Covarrubias could lead to a reward of up to $1,000.

Lexington Police was called to a south-central Lexington home just before 1 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a disturbance. Officers say when they arrived at the home, Covarrubias shot at a fleeing woman, as well as the patrol units and in the direction of a nearby home.

The residence and a patrol unit were hit and a young child was treated at Lexington Regional Health Center from injuries resulting from an apparent ricochet.

The arrest warrant for Covarrubias includes two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of use of a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Covarrubias is described as 6'1'', 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Lexington Police believe Covarrubias is in the working distance of Lexington, he has a lot of acquaintances in the area.
