Project Hunger Easter Extravaganza Raises Money to Fight Hunger
The 17th annual "Easter Basket" Extravaganza,presented by Project Hunger, hopes to raise both money and awareness to fighthunger. The silent auction and raffle on Saturday March 23 at theConestoga Mall in Grand Island will start at 10 a.m. with final bids at 3 p.m.
"Our goal this year is to raise 20,000 dollars," said JayWren, chairman of the Project Hunger Easter Basket Committee. "As always, wehave received tremendous support from businesses, churches, organizations andindividuals. The variety of baskets for auction is always amazing. There issomething for everyone."
The baskets will be on display at the south concourse ofthe Conestoga Mall.
"We will be putting baskets together at Conestoga mallstarting Monday the 18th," said Wren. "Anyone who would like to dropoff their basket or donation can stop by between 6 and 8 p.m."
Proceedsfrom the "Easter Basket Extravaganza" stay in the community to helpstock the Community Food Pantry, and provide food for the Food Bucks Program,Salvation Army Kitchen, Hope Harbor, Department of Health & Human ServicesGap Program, Food For Thought, Crossroads Rescue Mission, and Project Hunger'sGathering Table.
