Public Encouraged to Submit Comments on Tax Code


Congressman Adrian Smith is encouraging members of the public to submit comments and information to the review of the current tax code.

The House Committee on Ways and Means is asking individuals, organizations, researchersand other stakeholders to submit comments, information, facts, and datarelevant to the review of the current tax code.

Smith and Congressman John Larson (D-CT) are leading the bipartisanWays and Means Tax Reform Working Group on Financial Services.

"Public comments will ensure we have the bestinformation possible as we continue to review the current tax code and worktoward comprehensive reform," said Smith. "I hope individualsand groups will take advantage of this opportunity to engage with the workinggroups, and participate in this open approach to tax reform."

Public comments will be accepted through Monday, April15, and will be published on the Ways and Means Committee's website andincluded in the final Joint Committee on Taxation report, which will be deliveredto the Committee on Ways and Means.

The process for submitting comments is below:

  • Any person(s) and/or organization(s) wishing tosubmit comments can email
  • In the subject line of the email, pleaseindicate "Comments: (name of) Tax Reform Working Group" (note: be sure tospecify the name of the working group in the subject line - e.g., Energy TaxReform Working Group).
  • Attach your submission as a Word document.
  • In addition to the Word document attachment,please include in the body of the email a contact name, physical address, phonenumber and email address.
