Rains Lead to Cancellation of State Fair Tractor Pulls

The weekend tractor pulls at the Nebraska State Fair have been canceled after days of rainy weather left the fairgrounds soggy.

Friday's Antique Tractor Pull set for 10 a.m., and the Tractor Pulls at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, August 30 and 31 have all been canceled.

State Fair Executive Director Joseph McDermott says the rains have made it impossible to use the inside track needed for the tractor pulls.

"This is due in part to the tractor's weight and the soggy conditions on the motorsports track," McDermott said Friday.

State Fair officials are still determining if the Demo Derby will take place on Labor Day.

"We'll see if the rain stops, and the grounds has a chance to dry before we make a decision," McDermott said.
