AAA says fewer peopleplan to head out of town this year for the Fourth of July.

The organizationestimates nearly 41-million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from homefrom July 3rd to July 7th. That's almost a 300,000 person drop fromlast year's travel estimates.

AAA said the shorterholiday weekend this year could be to blame.

Independence Dayfalls on a Thursday this year, which means a four-day weekend, dropping from lastyear's five days.
