SIDNEY, Neb. (AP) -- Sidney's new police chief will be moving away from his post in south-central Illinois.
Sidney City Manager Gary Person says Byron "B.J." Wilkinson accepted the job on Tuesday and plans to start work in Sidney by the end of July.
Wilkinson has been chief of Litchfield, Ill., for 10 years and is a 20-year veteran of law enforcement. His career includes several years with the Mills Police Department in Wyoming.
Wilkinson says he's eager to move west, where he'll be nearer to family in the region.
He succeeds Mike Brown, who resigned to return to Kansas.
