Producers can sign up for several disaster assistance programsbeginning Tuesday, April 15.
Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says the programs reinstituted bythe new farm bill offer four types of assistance.
The livestock forage disaster program and livestockindemnity program are for ranchers who have suffered livestock or grazinglosses since 2011.
The emergency assistance for livestock, honeybees andfarm–raised fish program offers assistance to producers sufferinglosses because of disease, severe weather, blizzards and wildfires.
Finally, the tree assistance program is available to help orchardists andnursery tree growers replant trees, bushes and vines damaged bynatural disasters.
Producers signing up for these programs are encouraged tocontact their local FSA office for information concerning the types of recordsneeded to apply for assistance.
