Some Kansans Will See Smaller Unemployment Checks
Some Kansans will be seeing a reduction in funds in their unemployment checks.
The Kansas Department of Labor said checks for Kansans receiving extended unemployment for 14 extra weeks will see their payments reduced by nearly 11 percent on, or shortly after, March 31st.
The reductions in the emergency unemployment compensation program are the result of the federal spending cuts that went into effect March 1st.
The cuts mean that states administer unemployment payments are getting less money.
