South Dakota Man Arrested Near Norfolk After Reaching Speeds Over 100 MPH


A trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a South Dakota man Tuesday after clocking the vehicle at 96 mph.

Caleb Minerd, 27, of Wakonda, S.D., was found to be driving while intoxicated after being pulled over for speeding down Highway 81 south of Norfolk.

The trooper clocked Minerd's Ford Explorer at 96 mph in a 55 mph zone around 1 p.m. Tuesday. Before the SUV stopped it sped up to 111 mph.

Minerd was taken to the Madison County jail on DWI charges and speeding.
