The Nebraska State Patrol is making plans to conduct high visibility patrol in Grand Island during the state fair.
Troopers will be out in and around Hall County during the both weekends of the Nebraska State Fair. The special enforcement hopes to encourage drivers to comply with traffic safety laws in an effort to reduce the possibility of accidents.
"With the extra activity, wecan expect to see an increase in traffic volume over the next couple of weeks,"said Captain Chris Kolb, Commander Troop C-Grand Island. "We hope puttingadditional troopers out on the road will encourage voluntary compliance withall traffic safety laws and in turn reduce the potential for serious injury orfatality crashes."
The extra hours put in by law enforcement will be paid for in part by a $1,450 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
