More than 20 pounds of marijuana was seized by the Nebraska State Patrol Wednesday during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in western Nebraska.

The patrol says a trooper stopped a 2014 Chevy Tahoe for speeding near the Ogallala interchange on I-80 around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

After smelling the odor of marijuana coming from the SUV, the trooper searched the vehicle and according to NSP, found just over 23 pounds of marijuana in vacuum sealed bags hiding in trash bags in the SUV's cargo area.

All three people inside the SUV were taken to the Keith County Jail. The driver, 29-year-old Jesse Eggers, and passengers, 21-year-old Corina Sumner and 29-year-old Alfredo Acevedo, all of Peoria and East Peoria, Ill., face charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
