A four hour cycling marathon helps put more funds into the ‘Strong Kids' Campaign' at the Grand Island YMCA. The campaign helps award scholarships for those who can't afford to go.
On Saturday morning, nearly every indoor cycling instructor taught the marathon-style class.
Health experts say a healthy lifestyle is critical to combat health issues, and should be available to all.
Event Coordinator at the Grand Island YMCA, Becca Heidelk said, "This means a single mom can have her child come to a safe child care and know that their babies are taken care of if they have to work. This is for a family who can't afford it and the kids aren't going to stay home and watch TV all day. They can come to the Y after school, they can play basketball."
"Fitness is for everybody," added Heidelk. "We need fitness, and if you have a place you can go and belong to, even better."
Organizers exceeded their fundraising goal, raising enough to help fund at least four families.
