The Dobytown Kiwanis and Kearney United Way worked together to take in school supplies over the weekend, during the annual Stuff the Bus event.
Volunteers will then pack the collected items into backpacks and give them to 1,200 students this year.
Organizers say community support has made the program what it is today.
"We get a great deal of support," said Dobytown Kiwanis member Gordon Roethemeyer. "And I think it's part of the level of support and interest in the program is that people really see that this is helping out in their community and surrounding communities."
Stuff the Bus ended Sunday afternoon, but supplies and monetary donations can still be taken to the United Way office in Kearney.
