Technology Allows for New Christmas Traditions -- Holiday Apps


New technologies are creating all kinds of new possibilities for Christmas traditions.

There are now several apps available for smartphones and tablets that allow children to do things like write to and receiveletters from Santa, watch him feed his reindeer, find out if they've beennaughty or nice and track Santa's sleigh around the globe and into theirneighborhoods.

The apps are:

  • Reindeer Cam – Santa's official live feed is availablewith an app on mobile devices for $1.99 or via the Internet at Santa will make appearances every dayat 10 a.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. CST through Dec. 24.
  • Letters to Santa – With this free app, children can writeand send letters to Santa electronically. Santa will respond to each letterabout an hour after the letters are sent.
  • Santa's Scan-o-Matic – This app is sure to keep kids ontheir best behavior this holiday season. With a candy cane scanner, mom and dadcan use their iPhone to instantly show their children if they're being naughtyor nice (results can be pre-set or random). This app also includes a Christmascountdown and well as a Santa's watching light.
  • Santa Tracker – With this app, children can followSanta's every move at any minute from anywhere.

These apps are available for both Apple and Android devices.
