The Big Grape Event
Grand Island Hy-Vee has announced plans for the 2013 "Big Grape" event to be held October 19, 2013 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena at Fonner Park. The event, attended by over 800 guests last year, is a premier wine & food experience that raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Guests this year can once again look forward to live & silent auctions, hundreds of wine samples and an array of gourmet foods to try throughout the evening.
The Big Grape 2012 raised over $68,000 the night of the event and all totaled, the group donated over $71,000 to JDRF. This made the Grand Island Hy-Vee the number one store for JDRF fundraising in the entire company.
"We couldn't be more proud of how our community rallies around this fundraiser," Dave Blum, Store Director of the Grand Island Hy-Vee says. "We were the number one fundraiser out of all of the Hy-Vee stores. It is a terrific accomplishment but more importantly the "sibling rivalry" throughout Hy-Vee land challenges us to raise even more money for JDRF. We never lose sight of our mission; it's for the kids after all. But winning is nice too."
Tickets are now available at Hy-Vee's customer service counter. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door. "The Big Grape" committee is currently obtaining sponsorships for this year's event.
