Beginning Wednesday, July 17, eastbound traffic on Highway 30 will be rerouted to avoid construction work.
The city of Grand Island Public Works Department announced that workers will be moving on to the intersection of Highway 30 and Greenwich as the concrete replacement at the intersection of Highway 30 and Eddy Street is finished.
Eddy Street will remain closed between First and Second Streets until pavement markings can be installed. This is expected to be completed by Thursday, July 18.
Eastbound traffic on Highway 30 will be detoured around the new construction zone by continuing south on Greenwich to Koenig, turning east on Koenig to Eddy Streets, and then turning north on Eddy Street back to Highway 30.
City officials are urging local drivers to use an alternative route.
Construction is expected to last about 10 days.
