Trap Shoot/Golf Tournament to Raise Money to Send Local Vets to National Veterans Wheel Chair Games


A fundraiser trap shoot/golf tournament has been set for June 28 to help send local veterans to the National Veterans Wheel Chair Games in Philadelphia.

The two person 9-hole golf scramble will take place at Elks Country Golf in Kearney with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Cost to participate is $25 per team. There will be flag prizes and cash prizes for the top teams. Lunch will be provided, however lunch and golf carts are not included in the price to participate.

Other activities including a silent auction and putting competitions will be going on at the golf course from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information on the golf scramble, call 308.238.0760.

The 50 Rock Sporting Clay & Trap Shoot will take place at the Fort Kearny Shooting Sport Complex with shooting set to start around 9 a.m. The cost to participate is $30 per person. Lunch will be available at the clubhouse for a free will donation. For more information, call 308.627.6347.

All proceeds will go to support the local Paralyzed Veterans group's trip to Philadelphia for the National Wheel Chair Games. At the Games, the veterans will be participating in hand cycling, bowling, track and field, weight lifting, tennis, trap shooting, swimming and 9-ball.
