Tri-City firefighters say it was a tame Independence Day.

The Grand Island Fire Department reported four fires after 11:00 p.m. on July 4 caused by fireworks.

Captain Todd Morgan said they were on grass and in dumpsters.

The Kearney Volunteer Fire Department was called to two similar fires. That's compared to seven last year.

Hastings Fire officials said their crews weren't called out at all Friday.

The Lincoln Fire Department wasn’t so lucky.

Officials said they had more than 80 calls, with a few fires displacing three families.

Crews were called to the 3100 block of North Hill Road after a legal firework landed in a closet on the deck of an apartment.

The fire started on the second floor, but reached to the third and first floors.

The American Red Cross is helping families displaced by the fire for 48 hours.
