The Nebraska State Patrol says a trooper seized 60 pounds of marijuana in a traffic stop in Buffalo County of Thursday evening.

The agency says the trooper stopped a car about three miles east of Kearney on Interstate 80 for following too close. The trooper searched the car after a service dog indicated that the odor of drugs was coming from the vehicle.

Authorities say the marijuana was located in the trunk of the 2013 Volkswagen Passat.

The driver, 31-year-old David Esty III, of Surry, Maine, was taken to the Buffalo County jail on a charge of possession with intent to deliver.
