Two Arrested for Howard County Burglaries, Third Suspect Sought

The Howard County Sheriff's Department says two people have been arrested in connection with at least five burglaries in rural areas over the last two weeks.

Sheriff Harold Schenck says the burglaries happened between July 31 and August 18, with thousands of dollars worth of tools and guns stolen.

Schenck says investigators recovered a lot of the items in a garage at 656 Friend Road on August 20, including a stolen pickup from St. Libory that had not yet been reported missing. All of the guns except a revolver were found.

Two people have been arrested, but the department is not releasing their names pending burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of suspected meth charges. Schenck says a warrant has been issued for a third person.

Authorities in Hall, Merrick and Polk Counties are also investigating two of these suspects for burglaries there.
