The bodies of two York residents were found early Sunday morning following a fire at 558 W. Sixth Street.According to a statement from the York Fire Department, crews were called to the home shortly after 2 a.m. They arrived around 2:30 a.m. and saw smoke and fire coming from two main level windows.
It took 45 minutes to get the fire under control with the help of Bradshaw and Waco Fire Departments, according to the statement.
Fire crews found the bodies of Boyd Berger, 82, and Nancy Berger, 61, in the home.
The Nebraska State Fire Marshal's Office determined the fire was caused by an electrical failure in the main floor living room. The investigation continues.
York Fire Chief Kevin Stuhr said an autopsy will be scheduled to determine how the Bergers died.
