Two people were taken to the hospital Friday morning, following a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 80.

The accident happened around 7:05 a.m., near mile marker 290, just west of the Shelton interchange. Authorities with the Nebraska State Patrol say an eastbound Ford pickup lost control, entered the median, came back onto the road, then entered the median again. The vehicle rolled across the westbound lanes, and ended up in the ditch.

The driver was air-lifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney with life-threatening injuries, and the passenger was taken to the hospital via ambulance in critical condition. Names are not being released at this time, pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
