      Two Quakes Rock Same Part of Kans. in A Week, Task Force Study

      Two earthquakes in one week shook thesame area in southern Kansas.

      The latest earthquake happened Sundaymorning around 4 a.m. and came in at 4.0 on the Richter scale. Its epicenterwas reported eight miles east of Anthony in Harper County.

      The first quake was Wednesday andrated 3.4.

      Governor Sam Brownback requested tolead a task force last month to study whether human activity is causing anincrease in minor earthquakes in Kansas.

      The Richter scale ranks quakes from 1.0to 10. Both of these recent quakes are considered minor to light.
