The Financial Aid Office at the University of Nebraska at Kearney is hosting FAFSA Fridays starting in February.
FAFSA Fridays aim to help new and returning students get their FAFSAs done early to help receive all possible funding options.
"Weare hosting FAFSA Fridays to encourage students to complete their FAFSAapplications early, so that they can meet the Collegebound Nebraska deadlineand be eligible for additional first-come, first-served grants," said IngridRodriguez of Grand Island, peer adviser for the UNK Financial Aid Office.
FAFSAFridays are set to take place every Friday in February from 8 a.m.-1p.m. in TheLiving Room at the Nebraskan Student Union.
Studentswho attend will need to bring a computer or iPad, student and parent 2012 taxreturn forms, student and parent Department of Education pin numbers, and thestudent's driver's license.
"Forstudents who cannot bring a computer or iPad, we can provide the resources tocomplete the FAFSA application," said Marissa Ridenour, office associate forthe Financial Aid Office. "If students have not filled out this applicationbefore, we can also assist with creating an account and obtaining a Departmentof Education pin number."
"IfFAFSA Friday times do not work for students, students also have the option ofmaking an appointment with a peer adviser in the Financial Aid Office forassistance with the FAFSA application," Rodriguez said.
CollegeboundNebraska, the University of Nebraska's expanded financial aid program, providesfree tuition for students who meet academic and family income qualifications.
Regularwalk-in-hours for the UNK Financial Aid office are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Monday,Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
