UNK opened its $6.5 million Wellness Center Friday. The new facility improves their community outreach programs.

The university runs a program called “Building Healthy Families” where the school will educate individuals on how they can live healthier lives through good nutrition and exercise.

The new gym is more than four times the size of the old one; the school also tripled the amount of cardio equipment. UNK reports students are most excited about a new rock climbing wall which is 30 feet tall.

Students who are part of the exercise science and nutrition program will work in classrooms that are twice as big as their old ones.

The school did not get rid of the old gym; it will become a workout classroom for Zumba and yoga.
