UNK Professor Receives Big Recognition
UNK- A University of Nebraska at Kearney English professor has received recognition for his leadership of the UNK chapter of Phi Eta Sigma, a national honor society for first-year students.
Dr. Robert "Rob" Luscher, who has served as adviser for the honors organization since 1998, was honored during the 41st Phi Eta Sigma national convention held recently in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Under his leadership, the chapter has engaged in a variety of service projects on the UNK campus and in the Kearney community, as well as held annual book drives for Better World Books.
To be selected for membership in the honor society, freshman must earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. The group encourages academic excellence among students, recognition through scholarship awards, and campus and community service.
Founded in 1923, Phi Eta Sigma has more than 300 chapters throughout the United States. The UNK chapter was chartered in 1984.
