From Lincoln to all 93 counties, University of Nebraska Extension celebrates a century of service.

It was 100 years ago extension programs were officially created by congress. Extension educators serve every county in Nebraska, bringing university research to farmers, ranchers, and into the home. Plus Extension coordinates 4-H programs.

Dr. Chuck Hibberd is dean of Extension. He said they're especially proud of the work they do to benefit the state's ag producers and to support youth.

Visitors to the Nebraska State Fair have been able to view more than 10,000 4-H exhibits from 2,500 exhibitors.

The Nebraska State Fair is the capstone event for 4-H'ers to showcase their educational experiences that have taken place in the past year, according to Shane Potter, assistant extension educator in 4-H youth development.

Exhibits are displayed in about 43 project areas, including animals, food, clothing and textiles, robotics, computers, environment, vet science, heritage, leadership and many more, Potter said.

UNL Extension is also a key partner in Raising Nebraska, the new interactive agriculture exhibit at the fair.
