Valentines for Veterans
They stood up in a time of need, now the nation's veterans feel the love this Valentine's Day.
As they've done for more than two decades, kids made cards for veterans.
Hundreds are on display on the walls of the Grand Island Veterans Home.
On Friday, volunteers from the Hall County Korean War Hero Flight committee hand delivered dozens more, thanking those who served.
Kenny Brandt is part of that committee. He said he was impressed with his visit to the home, to see all the cards.
"Oh I think it's great because it's easy to forget the veteran," he said. "They want him when he's needed, but once it's over some people forget it a little.'
Cards came in from across the area, from Central City, Holdrege, Kenesaw, and of course Grand Island.
Veterans Home officials say Valentines for Veterans dates back to the late '80s.
In addition, the home has other activities include a Valentines dance.
