Water research and conservationprojects could receive millions in state aid.
This funding would come courtesy of ameasure advanced by committee, funneling $31.5 million into the projects.
The measure would help pay forcurrent, unfinished natural resources projects for both land and water. It alsowill fund new efforts to keep Nebraska's water supply sustainable.
Committee members voted to use $20 millionfrom the state's cash reserve, $11 million from general fund, and nearly $500,000left over from a Nebraska water task force.
Nebraska would continue to spend $11million on water projects in future budgets, which is roughly double thecurrent amount.
The proposal still requires approvalin the full legislature.
