      Weekend Traffic Stop Turns Up 12 lbs. of Pot

      North Platte – The Nebraska State Patrol has seized more than 12lbs. of marijuana over the weekend.

      Twopeople were arrested after the weekend traffic stop on Interstate 80 just west ofthe North Platte interchange after officers found a duffel bag stuffed with potin the trunk of their car.

      Justbefore 9:00 a.m. on Saturday a trooper stopped an eastbound 2012 Chevy Impalafor speeding on I-80, a few miles west of the North Platte interchange. An NSP K-9 indicated the odor of drugs coming from the vehicle.

      Asearch of the car turned up the bag of marijuana.

      The driver, 29-year-old David J. Evans of Newcastle,Calif., and a passenger 23-year-old Felicia MacDowell of Converse, Texas, wereboth lodged in Lincoln County Detention Center.

      They are each charged with possession of marijuanawith intent to deliver.
