Western Nebraska Authorities Continues Search for Fleeing Couple
Authorities in western Nebraska are searching for two people who fled officers following a pursuit across parts of the Panhandle.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, a trooper attempted a traffic stop Thursday morning west of Alliance, but a pursuit ensued when the black Subaru failed to stop.
The trooper followed the vehicle east of Alliance on Highway 2 until it left the road and drove through a pasture, where troopers and deputies from Box Butte County Sheriff's Office lost sight of the vehicle.
Later Thursday afternoon the vehicle was spotted with the aid of a private plane about 20 miles northeast of Alliance. At that time the man and woman inside the vehicle fled on foot.
The Nebraska State Patrol Aviation Division Helicopter continued looking for the couple the rest of the afternoon until darkness halted the search.
Authorities believe the driver to be 30–year–old Ryan Riddle of Greeley, Colo. based on evidence found in the abandoned Subaru. He is described as 6'1'', around 170 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Riddle is wanted on numerous warrants in his home state.
The female passenger has not been identified.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Riddle or the unidentified female are asked to call local authorities.
