While Moisture Accumulates, Wheat Lags Behind
While the state received more rain inthe past week, crops are still being for the season.
According to the USDA's crop report thestate of Nebraska averaged two- to three-inches of moisture across the easternthird and one- to two-inches in western areas.
The USDA reports that wheat washeading but still one and a half weeks behind average. Wheat conditions rated24 percent very poor, 29 percent poor, 33 percent fair, 13 percent good, andjust one percent of the crop was rated as excellent.
In thesouthwest corner the moisture accumulation has been spotty. Some fieldsreceived a half inch, while other fields received 3.5 inches. Producers said theirwheat is 2 weeks behind normal with conditions reported as poor to fair.
