Wish for Disney Trip Granted During Make-A-Wish Annual Banquet

The wonders of magic turns an illusion into reality, sending a Grand Island boy on the trip of a lifetime.

Eleven-year-old Mathew Ramirez not only gets his wish granted, but was also part of a magic act during the eighth annual Make-A-Wish fundraiser.

Mathew is undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, and with the help of the community his wish for a trip to Disney World is coming true.

"We had so much fun surprising Mathew with his special wish," said Make-A-Wish V.P. Hannah Stone. "Andy Gross, the magician, did it in such a magical way that I think the crowd was really spellbound and so very fun!"

"No, I had no idea I was going to Disney World," said Mathew Ramirez. "I'm so surprised, I'm very excited -- going on the rides, seeing Disney characters -- just so excited I can't wait!"

Mathew and his family will go once he's cleared from his doctor. Funds raised at Thursday night's annual banquet will stay local and help many other wish families.
