American Red Cross says donating blood can help save lives
The American Red Cross issued an emergency call for blood donations.
The non-profit said winter storms across the country forced it to cancel more than 200 blood drives at the end of March. Now it’s in desperate need of type o-negative and a-b blood.
On May 1st, NTV will host its annual blood drive.
A representative from the American Red Cross says the amount of people that donate blood really makes a difference in the community.
"We have done pretty well with our blood drives. In over 14 years, we have collected 1,892 pints of blood. And if each of those pints can help up to three people, that's a lot of life saving going on in this drive," said Samantha Pollard.
Pollard also said those wishing to donate blood should be feeling their best the day of the drive.
