- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 28-oz. can diced tomatoes
- 15 1/2-oz. can pinto or kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 15-oz. can tomato sauce
- 1 cup water
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp cayenne
- 24 baked tortilla chips (optional)
beef and onion in a Dutch oven and cook over medium-high heat, breaking
beef apart with a wooden spoon until browned, about 5 minutes.
Add tomatoes, beans, tomato sauce, water, chili powder, cumin, sugar and cayenne.
Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, partially covered until thickened slightly, about 30 minutes.
Serve with tortilla chips, if using.
