State Fair Already Experiencing Growing Pains
As the Nebraska State Fair continues to grow, so does the issue of creating room to accommodate new vendors.
Nebraska State Fair board members are tackling these concerns head on, hearing project proposals and adding new structures to the grounds.
Board officials say fair attendance has risen for the past three straight years, and say it's simply a matter of supply and demand.
"We need some more space. We have a waiting list of commercial vendors who would like to come to the Nebraska State Fair," said fair Executive Director Joseph McDermott. "We've had a waiting list every year, so we're putting up a 58,000 square foot exhibition building that obviously won't be ready for this year's fair, but I think that fairgoers will see that the momentum continues here in Grand Island."
Saturday's proposal highlighted a new 2014 exhibit focusing on the celebration of agriculture in Nebraska.
