This week we honor a Nebraska nativewho continued to serve our country's veterans long after his time in the Army.
Bill Herron was the youngest of threeboys to join the Army during times of war, originally from the Dickens and Maywoodarea.
Bill was training for the Paratrooperswhen he was injured. He was hospitalized in Memphis, Tennessee where he endedup meeting his wife Jean.
After his honorable discharge Billcontinued his service to our country's heroes as a Veteran Service Officer inLexington and later in North Platte for nearly 20 years. He was also a pastcommander of the North Platte Legion Club.
His daughter Billie said he was verypassionate about helping our veterans get their benefits and wanted to seetheir families taken care of.
