Ibach quiet on USDA speculation
A central Nebraska farmer is keeping quiet, in response to media reports that link him to a top post at the USDA.
Politico reported that Greg Ibach was in the running for an under secretary position, overseeing agricultural marketing and regulation.
Politico said several sources have linked Ibach to the position.
When contacted by NTV, Ibach declined to say if he is in consideration for a USDA job.
He did say any ag leader would be honored to serve the state's farmers and ranchers. Ibach has a farm and cattle operation near Sumner.
Ibach was appointed state ag director by Gov. Dave Heineman in 2005, and retained by Gov. Pete Ricketts when he took office. He has taken a lead in trade issues, and recently visited China, where Nebraska beef was the first American beef in that country in more than a dozen years.
