Bomb threat at McDonalds in Grand Island

Grand Island Police received a report of a bomb threat in Grand Island from the McDonald's on West State street on Tuesday.

GIPD said that McDonald's received a call from an unknown number that said there was a bomb tied to the phone lines and unless they wired him money he would set the bomb off.

Employees called 911 and evacuated the building according to Grand Island Police.

Police said they searched the building, and did not find a device and the phone was not tampered.

According to Grand Island Police the incident lasted about 40 minutes and the facility resumed normal activity within the hour.

Police said there was no caller ID and they couldn’t track the call, but the caller was described as a male with a heavy accent.
