Update: GIPD say suspicious activity was not an attempted abduction

Grand Island Police (NTV News)

GI police say they don't believe a suspicious incident in the city Sunday was an attempted abduction.

Despite that, Grand Island police say they are investigating.

It's an incident a mother chronicled on Facebook.

She said a white station wagon approached her daughter near Bismark and Joehnick Roads around 7:50 p.m. A man rolled down the window and called to her daughter. When the girl started to cry, she says the man told her daughter that it was ok and asked her to get in the car.

Police now say the suspect did not ask the girl to enter his vehicle and was actually looking for his son.

The man is described as white, in his mid-40's and balding on top but with longer light colored hair on sides and back.

Police said he wasn't wearing a shirt.

They're now working with Merrick County, where the vehicle is registered.
