Update: Grand Island man charged with 2nd degree murder
A Grand Island man has been arrested for 2nd Degree Murder, according to G.I. Police.
Captain Jim Duering said, Ahmed Mohamed Said, 23, is believed to have killed Abdulma Khamis on April 13.
A statement, released Wednesday, said Khamis was killed when he was hit in the head with a blunt object.
That happened near the 700 block of West 1st Street in G.I.
Duering said the arrest occurred at the Hall County Department of Corrections where Said has been confined since April 19, for an unrelated felony assault.
Wednesday, Said appeared in Hall County Court through the jail's video system. He was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Use of a Deadly Weapon other than a Firearm to Commit a Felony.
He is being held on $1 million bond.
