Hastings' Brickyard Park hosted a car show that keeps true to the park's history.

It's the eighth year for the 'reinvented' Melon Roasters Car Club's car show, bringing in about 250 cars for Sunday's event. The club reformed in 2010 after the former one disbanded back in the late 1990s.

Organizers said they've been able to form a unique tie to the park's history of brick making.

"We hand-make all of our trophies which are really unique and we actually use bricks on them that came out of this brickyard in the 1930s," said Melon Roasters Car Club President Steven Cropley. "We have quite a bunch of those bricks and we use those on our trophies so that's something nobody else can say they can do."

This Melon Roaster's car show also doubles as a fundraiser-this year for the cardiac rehab unit at Mary Lanning Hospital, as well as the Heart Association.
