House move, demolition make way for possible future development

House move, demolition make way for possible future development. (NTV News)

if you're noticing a vacant corner appearing along 29th and 2nd Avenue in Kearney, you're not alone.

Heavy machinery tore into the foundation of what used to be a house, while two others are on blocks ready to move.

City leaders say contractors have been on this site for a couple weeks now.

"It's always good to have infill or existing property where we've already got infrastructure available to connect to," said City of Kearney building official Max Richardson. "That's always better than to leapfrog out into the country."

Exactly what those houses are moving out of the way for is still unclear. Even the city says it doesn't know what is set to be built.
