Lawmakers discuss bills that can impact drivers
Lawmakers are considering a bill that would change texting while driving to a primary offense. Right now, it's considered a secondary offense, which means law enforcement have to find another traffic violation to pull you over for before they cite you for using your phone.
Another bill discussed on Monday would make not buckling up a minor a primary offense.
LB 41 would also increase the fine for failing to use a child restraint system to $50.
