Local business aims to honor "Hometown Heroes" (NTV News)

The Kearney Cabela's is bringing in public safety vehicles from police cars to possibly a helicopter in an effort to make a connection between the community and first responders this weekend.

The store also said they'll have demonstrations and offer discounts to military members and other "hometown heroes."

Free, in-store activities hosted by Cabela’s throughout the Hometown Heroes event on May 19 and 20, will include:

* Hometown Heroes Vehicle Showcase (Front of store beginning at 11:00am)

* Make-a-burger demonstration (Front of store beginning at 11:00am)

Guest appearances (11am-2pm; as their schedule allows) will include:

* CHI Good Samaritan AirCare Helicopter

* CHI Good Samaritan Ambulance

* City of Kearney Fire Department

* Kearney Police Department

* Nebraska Army National Guard

* Buffalo County Sheriff's Office

* Nebraska Game and Parks
