Man found in critical condition identified
Unresponsive man assault
The Grand Island Police Department has identified the person they say was found unresponsive at a G.I. home.
They said Abdulma Jeed Abdulrahman Khamis, 41, suffered a head injury after an assault.
Police had initially said it wasn't clear if it was a crime or an accident.
Capt. Jim Duering said, "The subject that we were called to last Thursday morning, as being unresponsive, we did determine that was the result of an assault. The nature of the injury and circumstances surrounding the case, so we are investigating that as an assault at this time."
The homeless man was found at 504 W. Louise Street on Thursday at about 6:50 a.m.
The assault investigation is active and ongoing. Police said no update as to the medical condition of Khamis. He was previously listed in critical condition.
